July 12, 5-9 p.m. Art Night Out is Old Town Lafayette's monthly arts festival. We're half-way through the season, with the final ANO scheduled for September 13. This community event draws families, community members and people from neighboring towns to participate in a dynamic local experience. The Art Market hosts high quality art vendors. The nights are filled with great Colorado bands, interesting art demonstrations, fun street performers, award winning local beer and a variety of delicious food trucks. On Public Road from Cannon to Emma Streets. Bands play at 6:30 pm at Festival Plaza, 311 S. Public Road.

July 20 3:30-4:30 p.m. Mate Masie: Family Outdoor Sound Celebration in Lafayette’s Outdoor Classroom Open Space behind Pioneer Elementary School. The program will include Ghanaian music and drumming led by Adjei Abankwah that celebrates sounds of nature and sounds in nature.   Families are invited to join in the fun! FREE! but please RSVP

September 26 Finalists Competition 

Each monthly Chalk-Off will feature three artists. All interested should email a brief description and rendering of their proposed piece to Elyse Wood at community@bcfm.org or call 303-910-2236. Please include preferred competition date (6/27, 7/25, 8/22). A 24 by 24 inch paver, 45 assorted Blick soft pastels, and $75 stipend provided. One winner selected each month, by market atendees. Three finalists will compete for the grand prize of $700, on Thursday, September 26.  Apply to compete. Lafayette Farmer's Market in Old Town Lafayette on the 400 block of East Simpson St.

Submit artwork September 3-6; 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.  Artists, age 55 or better, are invited to display 2-D artwork in our Billiards Gallery for the month of September. The entire community is invited to enjoy these pieces and vote on their favorites through the end of the month. Contributing artists will be honored at the Artist Reception on October 2Online, phone, or in-person registration will be available in August in the following categories; $5/piece for Lafayette residents and $6/piece for nonresidents.

WOW! Art Garden Grand Opening July 20

WOW! Garden Grand Opening Celebration 

Saturday, July 20; 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
 Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony, planting activities, and crafts! The enclosed garden play space contains learning zones focused on sensory experiences, horticulture exploration, and wellness including a demonstration garden, outdoor play kitchen, and landscaping elements to climb and explore.  This garden renovation project has been made possible through the support of the Colorado Garden Foundation and BrightView Landscapes.

July 8-August 5, 7pm-8:30pm  Jazz Singing for Teens:  In five Mondays, singers ages 13-19 will learn the basics of jazz singing and explore solo jazz repertoire. | Tuition:  $150

July 15-19, 9:30am-11am   Beginning Guitar Camp for kids ages 11-14)  Tuition:  $105
July 15-26 (Monday-Friday for two weeks), 1pm-5pm Little Red Riding Hood:  A bilingual opera for kids.  Kids ages 10-19 learn to put on an opera, from singing to set design, in both English and Spanish in this special production.  The children will perform the 35-minute opera for families and friends on the evening of July 26. |Tuition:  $405     

July 29-August 2, 8:30am-12:30pm African Music & Dance Camp presented for children ages 6-14 by Boulder’s Kutandara Center.  This camp brings the music and culture of Africa to Lafayette for all to enjoy!  | Tuition:  $250

Lafayette Miners Museum

Open Tuesday 7 - 9 p.m., Thursday  2 - 4 p.m., and Saturdays 2 - 4 p.m. Free and open to the public. For group tours call 303-665-7030. Housed in the Lewis Home, a miner's house built in 1890 at the Gladstone Coal Mine, northeast of town.
