June 14, 5-9 p.m. Art Night Out is a dynamic arts festival in Old Town Lafayette that happens once a month, May through September.  This community event draws families, community members and people from neighboring towns to participate in a dynamic local experience. The Art Market hosts high quality art vendors. The nights are filled with great Colorado bands, interesting art demonstrations, fun street performers, award winning local beer and a variety of delicious food trucks. On Public Road from Cannon to Emma Streets. Bands play at 6:30 pm at Festival Plaza, 311 S. Public Road.

Take a Class  at The Center for Musical Arts this June!

Deborah Explains the Symphony  One ticket to the Colorado Music Festival’s opening concert included with the class fee! In four short talks, pianist and composer Deborah Schmit Lobis will connect you with the music being performed this summer: how a composer finds musical inspiration; how to identify different instruments and musical themes; and what makes a great work of art truly great.

Windapalooza Band camp  Get a jump start on middle school band by spending a week jamming with other wind and brass players!  Work on ensemble techniques, improve music reading and aural skills, and learn a little band conducting!  For kids who already can play and read simple music on their band instrument of choice.

African Music & Dance Camp with Kutandara! a unique cross-cultural summer camp that gives children an in-depth opportunity to explore a wide range of music, dance, and art from southern Africa. No prior musical experience necessary.

Violin camps  An accelerated week-long introduction to violin!  This class is a great start for any child who wants to start private lessons or just is interested in exploring stringed instruments. Bring your own violin or rent one of ours.

Open Tuesday 7 - 9 p.m., Thursday  2 - 4 p.m., and Saturdays 2 - 4 p.m. Free and open to the public. For group tours call 303-665-7030. Housed in the Lewis Home, a miner's house built in 1890 at the Gladstone Coal Mine northeast of town. Like so many other homes in Old Town, it was moved into Lafayette when the mine closed. In 1913, William and Hannah Lewis purchased the house.The Lafayette Historical Society acquired the property with generous help from their youngest son, Elmo. Artist Statement: Working in two and three-dimensional media as well as video, television, light, and computer generated work, Angers has shown extensively in Manhattan, New Jersey, France, California, Florida and other states around the United States, as well as doing public artwork around the United States, Canada, and abroad.
The Butterfly piece is about fractal geometry and how it can create all the forms in life - human, vegetable, animal, and synthetic. It is also about giving birth to a Butterfly. The patterns in color on the wings are the caterpillars giving birth to the Butterfly.
