Volunteer as an Arts and Cultural Resources Commissioner!

The Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission (LCAC) looks for citizens who want to plan, assist, advocate for, and participate in the cultural arts. A commissioner does not have to be an artist. One must believe that the spectrum of cultural arts is an important part of what makes Lafayette vital and special and want to commit time to that idea. We also seek to reach under-served populations in Lafayette and hope you can assist us in those goals.
Apply now! A heartfelt 'thank you' to our volunteers, past and present.

Kimiko by Alsum

Art on the Street

The 2019 Art on the Street sculptures line Public Road in Old Town Lafayette. Take a stroll or view the website to enjoy the sculptures.
Artist: Gary Alsum
Loveland, CO
Location: 611 S. Public Rd.
Medium: museum quality silicon bronze on Colorado Buff Sandstone base
Price: $11,000

Artist Statement: I created my first bronze sculpture 30 years ago – a basketball player driving toward the basket. My main focus, then, was the figure in motion and children at play. As my work started getting more attention I started getting commissions for both public and private collections. "Kimiko" came about as a commission for a pedestal size bronze of their daughter, Kimi, dressed in a kimono sent from relatives in Japan. I created the larger version with Kimi's full name, Kimiko, a few years later. It is an honor to have it displayed in Lafayette this year.
