Author BK Loren

Come to Your Senses: Writing About the Natural World

Thursday September 6, 2018 9:00 a.m. - noon
Instructor BK Loren and Naturalist Martin Ogle.  The landscape and wildlife of Lafayette is rich and varied--and often goes unnoticed in our hurried lives. Take a morning to slow down and come back to your senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell) through observing the natural world in your own backyard. Part of the joy of observing nature and wildlife lies in being able to gain enough clarity to describe not only what you have seen, but how it made you feel, how it momentarily transformed you. Come to this workshop prepared to observe, learn, explore, and write (a lot), and have fun. Since the human body is part of the natural world, Loren may also toss in a bit of brain science about the benefits of writing and being in nature. Co-sponsored by Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and Lafayette Open Space. Pre-registration required.
