Wellness Classes


Latin Dance-1:15-2:15pm Mondays  NEW Day &Time
This Latin-Inspired fitness class is a great, unique and effective approach to exercise.  Drop-in fee $4, 20 punch card for $64 or SilverSneakers membership.

4/5-4/26 - Tai Chi 11:00am-12:00pm Thursdays
Tai Chi is exercise that is easy and gentle and develops body awareness that can help seniors to keep their balance.

Matter of Balance starting May 10 - 1:00-3:00pm
A Matter of Balance is an eight-week program designed to help you reduce your fear of falling and increase your physical activity.  FREE for Boulder County residents 60 and over.  Please call 303-441-3599 to register.

Do you like to play Pinochle, Bridge or Shanghai Rummy?  Our card groups are currently looking for players.  Interested?  Just stop by and join the game.

4/11 - Boulder County CareConnect is coming to the Lafayette Senior Center to introduce their services to Boulder County Seniors.
They will be available to share information and answer questions on Wednesday morning, April 11 between 10 AM and noon.

New and Improved Wednesday Transportation Loop.
We pick up and drop off at Affinity, Josephine Commons, Villa West, Boulder Ridge and Abordale Acres and go to Vitamin Cottage, Sprouts, King Soopers, Walmart, the Library or the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center.

4/30 - Mardi Gras Casino Blackhawk 8:30am-4:30pm
The casino package includes $5 free play on card, free drinks while gambling and $5 food voucher.  You must use your player card to earn points and receive package.  Meals are on your own.  Pick up is at the Erie Community Center, 450 Powers St.

4/4 & 4/11 - Tax Assistance 10:00am-4:30pm

There will be qualified AARP volunteers available at the Lafayette Library to help prepare and electronically file taxes by appointment at no charge.  Appointments are available until April 11 on Wednesdays from 10:00am-4:30pm.  Make appointments online at http://cotaxaide.org/appt or call 303-661-1163 or 303-665-5200 (option 2).


4/9 - The Basics:  Memory Loss, Dementia & Alzheimer's 3:00pm-4:00pm
Alzheimer's is not a normal part of aging.  If you know someone affected by Alzheimer's or Dementia, it's time to learn the facts.  Class is at the Lafayette Library, 775 W. Baseline Rd.  Register through the Senior Services 303-661-1492.  Registration deadline:  April 9.

4/10 - Evidence-Based Healthy Aging 2:00-4:00pm
Cardiovascular disease is the umber one cause of death in the United States and the prevalence increases with age.    This class will present the most current scientific information about aging, cardiovascular health and lifestyle interventions.  Registration deadline:  April 5

4/24 - Dementia Caregiver Support Group 6:00-7:30pm
The Dementia Caregiver Support Group is a safe place to receive support for the difficult journey of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease.  This group meets at the Lafayette Public Library on the 4th Tuesday of the month.  No registration required.  For more information, please contact the Alzheimer's Association at 800-272-3900.

4/27 - Reverse Mortgages Shouldn't be Frightening 11:00am-12:00pm
Come to this FREE program to learn how reverse mortgages work and if it may be the right program for you.  Bring a copy of your mortgage statement, if you have one, and Bob Groening, Reverse Mortgage Educator for Goldwater Bank, will show you how you can access the equity in your home.  Registration deadline:  April 26.

5/2 - Dementia Friendly Orientation for Community Members 5:15-6:30pm 
In a dementia friendly community, people living with dementia and their care partners have autonomy, a high quality of life, and are engaged with that community that treats each person with respect supports individuals to live meaningful lies to their full potential. Lafayette is a pilot site for creating Dementia Friendly Communities in Boulder County.
Join us to learn about the basic signs of dementia and how to successfully and compassionately communicate with individuals who may be experiencing cognitive decline. We will also discuss how Lafayette businesses and organizations can become dementia friendly and maintain and grow an aging customer base.  Class is FREE.
