The Collective Community Art Center celebrates 1 year

Join us for Coffee & Cookies Thursday, February 15; 10 am - 3 pm

The Collective – Community Arts Center celebrates their one-year anniversary on Thursday, February 15.  The public is invited to a Coffee & Cookies Open House from 10 am – 3 pm on Thursday, February 15.  The Collective will offer 2 drop in art projects. The Women’s Art- Persistent Path to Identity exhibit, which open on Tuesday, February 13, will be on display.

Women’s Art Exhibit opens at The Collective

Opening Reception Friday, February 16; 6 - 8 pm

“Women’s Art, A Persistent Path to Identity” opens at The Collective Community Art Center on February 13.  The exhibit, curated by a team of local female artists, is an eclectic mix of work in a variety of mediums from local artists, representing expressions of identity as women and artists. The opening reception will be Friday, February 16; 6 – 8 pm. Light appetizers will be provided and wine will be available for purchase from Augustina’s winery. 

Artist Salon Sunday, February 25; 3 - 4:30 pm

An Artists’ Salon (Moderated Discussion) will be Sunday, February 25, 3 - 4:30 pm. The artists of the Women’s Art Show are invited to speak informally and briefly about their art making and how it affects who they are and how they view themselves.
All events are free and open to the public.

“Before the Grid” Agnes Martin Film will be shown at The Collective on March 8, on International Women’s Day. The film will show at The Collective, 7 - 9 pm.  All events are free and open to the public.

About The Collective

The Collective, located in the rebuilt historic building at 201 N. Public Road, is home both to the City of Lafayette’s community arts center and the Arts & Cultural Resources Department.  Visitors can expect to experience a welcoming, unpretentious space to engage in the arts through exhibits, networking opportunities, arts business development, social themes, lectures, author readings, and other programs. Beginning in April 2018, The Collective will host Noche de Cultura on First Fridays each month.
The Collective Gallery is open Tuesdays - Thursdays 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; Fridays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; Sundays 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. The Collective Gallery is closed on Mondays.
