Artists Reception Tonight

Free. Form. Function.,Artists’ Reception for Sheryl Mercure and Lynda Ladwig, is tonight, September 7th , 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The reception will feature special guest speaker Naomi Hoshino HoriiThe short talk at 7pm, Creative Flow: Form & Function will explore the balance of creative energy, beauty and function. 
The exhibit featuring painter Sheryl Mercure and ceramic artist Lynda Ladwig, will be at The Collective from August 28th through October 2nd . Mercure’s work features large-scale abstract oil or acrylic paintings and small encaustic works have a sense of calm and reflection. Her paintings explore form, color, shape and shadow in an engaging way.  Ladwig’s ceramics in porcelain are a study in function and simplicity. 
This exhibit and the reception is free and open to the public. All are invited to the Artists’ Reception on September 7th , 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, which will feature special guest speaker Naomi Hoshino HoriiThe short talk, Creative Flow: Form & Function will explore the balance of creative energy, beauty and function.
Friends and the community are invited to gather, enjoy the exhibit, and talk with the artists over their artwork. Ms. Horii will be available to answer questions after her short lecture. Light refreshments will be provided during the reception. Wine will be available for purchase.

Face performs at final Art Night Out

The popular vocal rock band, Face will headline the finale of 2017 Art Night Out on September 8. Art Night Out visitors can also enjoy  live demonstrations by artists, crafters, dancers, and street performers.
The Art Market @ Art Night Out will offer a distinctive shopping experience with a wide variety of locally-made arts and fine crafts.  The market is a result of a partnership with Crafted Life, who will curate the Art Market @ Art Night Out. These creative goods will be available for purchase from 30+ different local vendors and artists.  
Art Night Out is a free, family-friendly community event that takes place from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on the second Friday, May through September, in Old Town Lafayette. The Art Market, ARTSLafayette beer & wine garden, children's activities and food trucks open at 5pm.  The free concert starts at 6:30 pm. Art Night Out visitors can also enjoy live demonstrations by artists, crafters, dancers, and others. Art Night Out is sponsored by the City of Lafayette, is a partnership with ARTSLafayette, Crafted Life and generous business sponsors MP Munding Realty, Confluence SBC, Anspach Jewelry, Lafayette Collectibles & Flea Market, By Krueger, Anne Larsen State Farm, and BlueBird Windows & Doors.

The Collective Community Arts Center, located in the rebuilt historic building at 201 N. Public Road, is home both to the City of Lafayette’s new arts center and the Arts and Cultural Resources Department.  Visitors at The Collective can expect to experience a welcoming, unpretentious place to engage in the arts through rotating exhibits, historic displays, networking opportunities, arts business development, social themes, lectures, film series, author readings, and other enlightening programs.
