Opening Reception at The Collective

The Arts and Cultural Resources Department is proud to partner with the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame (CWHF)  for the April and May exhibit of Women in STEAM portrait exhibit.  This exhibit will feature more than 50 portraits of Colorado Women who have made an impact in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math.
The opening reception, Thursday April 13, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, will feature Betty Heid, Chair of the CWHF Board of Directors.  Ms. Heid will talk about the CWHF and the impact of women in our state’s history.  Beth Stade, the featured sculptor, will also be at the opening reception.
The exhibit will feature notable women including Dr. Susan (Doc Susie) Anderson, Pilot Penny Hamilton, Dr. Temple Grandin, Dr. Justina Ford, and Martha Maxwell as well as Judy Collins, Helen Bonfils, and Eppie Archuleta. The portraits represent a wide range of skill, education, perseverance, and hard work.  The show will be on display from April 13 – May 26.
The iron and rock sculpture of Beth Stade, local artist and CU math researcher, will be on display during April and May as well. Ms. Stade is the designer of Lafayette’s Geometry Point at Romero Park.  She will give a workshop, "5 Ways Math Makes Great Art - Number 3 Will Shock You!" on Thursday, May 4, 6:30 – 8:00.
