The center’s name was carefully chosen to represent the collaboration of collectively working together to express and celebrate the community’s identity through art.
In addition to serving as a clearing house for arts and culture, The Collective will incorporate the City’s commitment to uphold Lafayette’s past with its future evolution.  A rotating display of historic items from the Lewis House Miners Museum’s permanent collection will be featured at the Collective and managed by the Lafayette Historical Society.

Off the Beaten Path: Photography by Gerry Morrell

The Collective will feature “Off the Beaten Path,” photography by Gerry Morrell.
Nature photography is Gerry Morrell’s specialty. Living in Colorado has given him the opportunity to photograph the wildlife and scenery that makes the Rocky Mountain West famous.  As 3rd generation Coloradan, Gerry has a unique knowledge of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains, which allows him to photograph, not only the familiar areas, but also the “back roads” where many of his best images have been taken. Gerry is also a local celebrity, serving the community at Fire Chief, fireman for 40 years, and business owner and founder of Morrell Printing Solutions.
Morrell's photography will be on display through the end of March.  The Collective is located at 201 N. Public Road; Lafayette.

The Starfish Throwers - A Documentary
Q&A with HOPE Longmont
420 Courtney Way, Lafayette CO 80026
Sponsored by Project Local Community (
Worlds apart, a five-star chef, a twelve year-old girl, and a retired schoolteacher discover how their individual efforts to feed the poor ignite a movement in the fight against hunger.  Award-winning chef Narayanan Krishnan, fighting against the caste system in India, quits his job to begin a life of cooking and hand-delivering fresh meals to hundreds of people in his hometown. Katie Stagliano’s planting of a single cabbage seedling when she was nine years old blossoms into Katie’s Krops, a non-profit with 73 gardens dedicated to ending hunger. Retired middle school teacher Mr. Law battles personal health issues as he hand delivers more than a thousand sandwiches nightly to the hungry in Minneapolis.
This documentary tells the tale of these remarkable individuals and the unexpected challenges they face. Despite being constantly reminded that hunger is far too big for one person to solve, they persevere and see their impact ripple further than their individual actions.

Now It All Begins
Artist Justin Diester
Louisville, CO
Location: 600 S. Public Road; Lafayette Florist
Price: $ 8,000
Artist Statement: Third in a creation series, “Now It All Begins” developed from my interest in origins and portrays our bright yellow sun warming new blue-green oceans, generating new life forms that will thrive and multiply and fill the seas. Color, shape, texture and configuration create a complex of opposing forces that energize dynamic birth and change.
First in this series is a piece suggesting that we and our earthly home are made of the stuff of stars. Secondly, is the image of that which was of the stars now descended to earth, as it was meant to do from the beginning. "Now It All Begins" completes the notion of beginnings. Next is the idea of how these beginnings transform our earth and point to the future.
