Art on the Street

The 2016 Art on the Street sculptures line Public Road in Old Town Lafayette. Take a stroll or view the website to enjoy the sculptures.
Artist: Steven Durow

Location: 211 N. Public Road;
Materials: Steel, Glass, Light
Price: $ 48,000
 Artist Statement: My work grows from the relationship between the physical world and human invention, and as such architecture, artifacts, and objects relating to personal narrative play a large part in my artistic practice. As a sculptor I believe that an essential part of what makes us human is our ability to envision that which does not exist, and then set our actions on redefining reality to equal our imagination. It is this intrinsic connection between our minds and hands that allows the objects we create to function as a reflection of our inner selves and a catalyst for profound experience. What I labor over as a sculptor is finding that point of connection; seeking the vital intersection of irrefutable form and indefinable expression.
Crescent won the Jean Mellblom Award in 2016.
