Water taste change for drinking water in Lafayette.

 Water Information

City of Lafayette water customers may notice a slight change in the taste of drinking water over the next several weeks as annual changes to water sources are implemented.  The City receives water from a variety of mountain snowmelt sources and stores untreated water in Baseline Reservoir and Goose Haven Reservoir prior to treatment at the Baseline Water Treatment Plant.

The amount of water treated from each reservoir is adjusted over the course of the year based on availability and to provide the highest quality water to customers.  The two reservoirs have slightly different geology, vegetation, and temperature and some customers may perceive a difference in taste and/or odor even after treatment.

Water from both reservoirs is treated to meet all applicable health and safety standards established by the State of Colorado and the Environmental Protection Agency.  A copy of the City’s annual Consumer Confidence Report, which details water quality monitoring results, is available online.
