Using parks, playgrounds, and trails during the Stay at Home Order

On March 25, Gov. Polis issued a state-wide Stay at Home Order directing all Coloradans to stay at home and avoid contact with people outside their household in an effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  Individuals are allowed to leave their homes to participate in essential activities. View the full list of essential activities and a FAQ about the Order.

One essential activity allowed under the Order, is to engage in outdoor recreation such as walking, hiking, biking, or running while maintaining the required safe distance of six feet or more from other parties. For purposes of outdoor recreation, Lafayette parks and trails will remain open. However, to abide by parameters set forth in the Order and to ensure proper social distancing and avoid spreading the virus through high touch areas, the following amenities are open with COVID-19 protocols in place such as social distancing, face coverings, hand-washing, and limited group sizes of 25 people or less:

OPEN

  • Lafayette Skate Park
  • Great Bark Dog Park
  • Indian Peaks Golf Course
  • All public tennis courts
  • All public disc golf courses
  • All public playgrounds
  • All public picnic areas and public shelters
  • All public restrooms in parks
  • All public basketball courts
  • All public volleyball courts

When visiting our parks and trails:

  • Follow all rules and regulations.
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick.
  • Maintain a six-foot distance from others on trails, in parks, and while walking pets. This six-foot distance should be maintained with anyone not in your household.
  • Visit parks and trails close to home to minimize travel.
  • Avoid groups.

If we work together to ensure the health and safety of our community, we can help stop the spread of COVID-19.
