Lafayette shoppers get ready to be rewarded for supporting local businesses. On Saturday, November 30, the City and the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce are hosting a Shop Small Saturday event which will offer consumers exciting discounts and special promotions at local Lafayette businesses.
Shop Small is a national movement encouraging consumers to shop at local businesses. Each year, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, millions of individuals, businesses, and communities have embraced this concept by supporting their local economy.
“We’re continuing to promote shopping locally and the Invest in Lafayette concept,” said Vicki Trumbo, Executive Director of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. “Lafayette is moving in a positive direction and one way for residents to support the community is to shop, eat, and play right where they live. We want everyone to make a conscious effort to shop locally this holiday season, and take advantage of the special promotions offered on November 30.”
Invest in Lafayette is the City's "shop local" educational program, designed to keep tax dollars in town by encouraging shoppers to shop locally. When residents (and visitors) shop in Lafayette, sales tax dollars are "invested" back into the community to help pay for parks, recreation, open space, police and fire protection, streets, library, public art, and other important government services.
The City’s website features a list of over 55 participating Lafayette businesses that will be providing special offers on November 30 to celebrate Small Business Saturday. The full list can be downloaded at cityoflafayette.com/ShopSmall .
