Live Street Chalk Off Competition

Chalk art contest at the Lafayette Farmers Market

Attention all artists: Our monthly Live Street Chalk-Off competition at the Lafayette Farmers Markets is looking for artists to compete for a grand prize of $700 and chance to submit final art for a public art installation on Public Rd. The Farmers Market takes place in Old Town Lafayette on the 400 block of East Simpson St.

The Chalk-Off competition will feature three artists on the fourth Thursday of the month. Chalk-off dates include Thursdays - June 27, July 25 or August 22, with the Grand Finale Chalk-Off on September 26.

All interested artists should email a brief description and rendering of their proposed piece to Elyse Wood at community@bcfm.org or call 303-910-2236 for more information. Please include preferred competition date (6/27, 7/25, 8/22). Proposed pieces should be family friendly. Each artist will have a 24 by 24 inch paver for their chalk mural using the theme “What Makes Lafayette Great.” Selected artists will receive 45 assorted Blick soft pastels and $75 stipend. One winner will be selected each month, and the three finalists will compete for the grand prize on Thursday, September 26, the last market of the season. Winners will be selected by market attendees.

Admission to the Farmers Market is free to the public. The market attracts a couple hundred Lafayette residents who enjoy art, local agriculture, live music and the Lafayette community vibe.

If you are an artist, WE WANT YOU! Apply to compete, and show your Lafayette pride.
