[ARCHIVED] Call for artists - Old Town art project

Artists - you’ve seen potential, funky “canvases” like these along Public Road and Simpson Street. The Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority is looking for proposals from artists to transform similar canvasses into an eclectic artworks.

To apply, send a proposal to by June 20, 2019. Include the address, a photograph of your proposed “canvas”, a sketch and description of your concept. Also include a link to your website, or at least three images of your artwork.

Locations must be on Public Road or East Simpson Street and easily visible to passersby. Projects must include 3-D components such as mechanical cabinets. Utility boxes owned by Excel Energy are not eligible for this project.

Stipends paid to the artists will be determined by the complexity and size of the proposed project, with a minimum fee of $250 and a maximum fee of $1000. Locations are anticipated to primarily be on private property, please seek owners approval before accessing any private property. Once potential artwork is submitted, City staff will seek owner approval of the project. All projects on private property are subject to owner approval and stipulations.
