The City of Lafayette has hired Tony Raeker to fill the new position of Sustainability Coordinator. In this position, Mr. Raeker will be performing innovative and analytical work to advance the City’s plans for a sustainable future. In 2018, the Lafayette City Council identified the hiring of this full-time position as a top priority in order to develop and administer sustainability projects and manage the City’s newly adopted Roadmap to Community Sustainability.
Raeker joins the City with over 12 years of experience in top-level planning and sustainability functions, most recently with the City of Fort Collins where he served as the Green Building Coordinator. His background includes experience in urban planning, energy and financial policy analysis, consumer outreach, behavioral economics, and electric vehicle programs and policies. He holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning, a Master of Science in Green Building, will complete a Graduate Certificate in Sustainability and Behavior Change this year, and has completed all graduate-level courses towards a PhD in Environmental Management.
“Lafayette has a strong record in sustainability and clear desire to go further,” said Tony Raeker, Sustainability Coordinator. “I look forward to helping the community get closer to those goals and vision.”
