City Council vacancy applications accepted through August 16

Due to the resignation of Mayor Pro Tem Gustavo Reyna, the Lafayette City Council will interview and appoint a replacement to fill this open seat. Lafayette residents are encouraged to apply for consideration by August 16, 2018, at midnight. The successful candidate will serve until the next regular election in November of 2019, at which time she or he will be eligible to run for an additional term.  To qualify for a position on City Council, applicants must be a registered voter and have lived within Lafayette city limits for at least one year.

To apply, please complete the online City Council Appointment Application. A current resume is required to accompany the application. Online applications are due by August 16, 2018, at midnight.


You may also download an application, submit a hard copy and resume, and return the documents to the City Clerk at susank@cityoflafayette.com; via fax at 303-665-2153; or 1290 S. Public Road, Lafayette 80026.   Hard copy applications are due by August 16, 2018, at 5:00pm.

City Council anticipates this new appointment will be announced at a special meeting on August 28 after completion of the final candidate interviews.


Submit your interview questions for the City Council vacancy by August 16, 2018

On August 28, 2018, the Mayor and City Council will interview candidates to fill a vacant seat on the Lafayette City Council.  Residents are encouraged to submit potential questions they would like to have asked of the candidates by midnight on August 16. The Mayor will consider these suggestions when compiling the list of interview questions. Questions may be submitted at https://cityoflafayette.com/FormCenter/City-Clerk-19/Question-Suggestions-for-City-Council-Ca-399 through August 16.
