America Recycles Day Free Battery Collection Event on Nov. 15
Thursday, October 31, 2019
Boulder County Resource Conservation is hosting a free battery collection event on Friday, Nov. 15. Billions of batteries are improperly disposed of each year – making their way to landfills or recycling facilities where they can present harm to environments and people. Batteries in landfills have the potential to leak toxic metals into the waste stream, while batteries processed at a recycling center may cause fires when crushed by machinery.
Taking batteries to certified drop-off locations not only helps prevent contaminated waste streams and potential fires, it also gives the batteries a second chance at life. In honor of America Recycles Day, Resource Conservation is collecting all types of batteries from both residents and first time business customers at no cost at the HMMF.
Please note there is a 50 pound drop-off limit per visitor, batteries larger than 9-volts require clear tape on positive terminals at drop-off. Damaged batteries from new businesses include a fee.
