2014 City Council Goals
The following goals and objectives were approved at the March 4, 2014 City Council meeting;

The broad Planning goal to “Develop new, and review ongoing, major planning initiatives” will be addressed through the following action objectives;
• Develop a new energy sustainability plan with emphasis on the private sector
• Discuss the Historical Preservation Board’s recommendations to reduce demolition by neglect
• Update the Water Master Plan
• Investigate funding strategies for State Highway 7 improvements
• Study the concept of a satellite library

The broad Economic Development goal to “Recruit and encourage new economic activity to increase sales tax revenue and the number of jobs in the community” will be addressed through the following action objectives;
• Manage a development plan for the southwest corner of Highway 287 and Arapahoe Road
• Encourage new businesses to locate in Lafayette and encourage the expansion of existing businesses
• Support the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority Downtown Vision Plan

The broad Communications/Outreach goal to “Continue communication channels and outreach programs with other government entities and the Lafayette community” will be addressed through the following action objectives;
• Schedule meetings with other governmental entities
• Review qualifications for serving on a City board and conduct a meeting with all City boards and commissions 
• Support Lafayette’s Quasquicentennial (125 year) observance

The broad Finance goal to “Review long term planning of capital improvement project funding” will be addressed through the following action objectives;
• Update the Capital Improvement Plan to include a Community Center and Mary Miller Theater upgrades
• Prepare a forecast including revenues that support City services and programs
• Review opportunities to secure grants to supplement city programs and services
• Review Capital Improvement Plan for Indian Peaks Golf Course
