Sketch Plan, Preliminary Plan / PUD & Final Plan / PUD
- Final plans provide the legal documents that will be a part of the city and county records. The final plan typically includes a final plat and a development agreement, along with all other final documents and agreements between the owner or developer and the city. Final plans require a public hearing before the City Council.
- Preliminary plans provide the necessary information to allow staff and the Planning Commission to review a more detailed design and to resolve planning or engineering problems that may have been raised at the sketch plan phase. Preliminary plans require a public hearing before the Planning Commission.
- Sketch plans allow a review of the concept and the appropriateness of the proposed development in order to identify major problems which must be resolved and to assess the overall feasibility of the request. A sketch plan requires a public hearing before the Planning Commission.
Application Process
- A neighborhood meeting is required before submitting a formal application for a sketch plan and a preliminary plan.
- A pre-application meeting with city staff is required for a sketch plan, preliminary plan, and final plan submission.
- Application fees are due at time of submission.
- Completed applications with accompanying required documents should be submitted to the Lafayette Community Development Department, City Hall, 1290 South Public Road.
