Waneka Lake Park

Waneka Lake Park is a recreational and wildlife refuge in a suburban setting.

Waneka Lake Park features playground structures, shelter facilities, picnic tables, benches, fishing areas, and a 1.2 mile fitness trail for walking, biking or running within its 147 acres.

Waneka Lake Boathouse provides paddleboat and canoe rentals in the summer months.  Restrooms and drinking fountains available year-round.

Dogs allowed on-leash.

Park Shelter Use Tip - Keep recycling an amenity the city provides in community parks by using the Eco-Cycle bins with blue lids ONLY for acceptable recyclables such as glass, aluminum, paper, cardboard, and plastic bottles. Please, no trash. Por favor, no basura.

Signs of a Living Planet
Lafayette Open Space reveals some of the ways that we can sense our living planet. Join naturalist, Martin Ogle in an exploration of natural history, human involvement and how it all ties into Earth’s living system. The group will look for birds and other wildlife, explore the Greenlee marsh, and learn the history behind Waneka Lake.

This 1 ½ mile walk will start at the Waneka Lake east parking lot (Emma St. and Caria Drive). The program is recommended for adults and youth age 10 and older. RSVPs are required and spaces are limited. RSVPs and questions can be directed to Martin Ogle at Martin@EntrepreneurialEarth.
