Fingru Open Space forms a visible buffer between the Coal Creek corridor and developed areas in Lafayette.

It is a valuable riparian habitat, and the joint ownership between the cities of Lafayette and Louisville and Boulder County is intended to preserve the site as a wildlife, stream and trail corridor for the Coal Creek Regional Trail.

A majority of the property is under agricultural lease; therefore access to the public is limited.
