Fire Marshal Norm Kellett’s career covers 40 years of service to the public. His career started with the Lafayette Fire Dept. in 1975 as a volunteer. He moved to Boulder Colo. in 1976 and served with the Boulder Rural Fire Dept. as a volunteer for 6 years. Norm moved back to Lafayette in 1982 and continued to volunteer with Lafayette Fire serving 2 years as a Lieutenant and one year as Fire Captain before moving to Westminster in 1992. He started his professional career with the Westminster Fire Dept. in 1980 and was promoted to Engineer in 1984. In 2005 he promoted to Fire Lieutenant in the Fire Prevention Bureau as a Fire Prevention Specialist. After 30years with Westminster Fire, he was hired by Lafayette Fire to replace long time Fire Marshal John Mansfield. His professional background includes: a Fire Science degree from Red Rocks College, NICET Certification for Fire Alarm and Water based systems, IFC inspector 2, State Certifications for Fire Officer 1, Fire Inspector 3, Fire Suppression Inspector and Haz- Mat Technician, attended National Fire Academy for classes in Prevention and Plans Review.
