Several local organizations will be present with activities and displays to assist in learning about birds within our community and abroad.   1. 2017 Citizens' Police Academy

    The Citizens' Police Academy is a unique 12 week mini-police academy for citizens 15 and older. The academy meets once a week to explain and demonstrate many of the department's policies, divisions and functions. Areas covered include DUI investigation, crime scene investigation, felony car stops, traffic enforcement, tactics, SWAT, officer safety and more! If you have ever wondered why the police do what they do to keep you safe, apply to attend the 2017 academy! Applications and background checks are required. Applications available online and at the police department. Seating is limited, so apply today!

  1. 7th Annual Window Painting Contest

    October 8, 2017, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Bob L. Burger Recreation Center

    Children grades K-10th can paint a Halloween, Día de los Muertos, and/or fall picture on an assigned exterior window space of a participating merchant in Lafayette. Local artists will judge the paintings. Winners in each grade category receive prizes and awards at the Fall Festival on October 22. Lafayette residency is not required. Space is limited. Participants provide acrylic paint and supplies as detailed in instruction sheet. Window assignments, instructions, and supply list will be emailed after October 3.
