In this 60 minute workshop you will receive a short lecture on the tradition of La Catrina (“skeleton woman”), a cultural symbol of death common throughout Mexican art, especially around el Dia de los muertos, first represented by José Guadalupe Posada and later by Diego Rivera among others. You will also the opportunity to create and decorate your own Catrina doll to take home. Instructor: Angela Aponte

The Citizens' Police Academy is a unique 12 week mini-police academy for citizens 15 and older. The academy meets once a week to explain and demonstrate many of the department's policies, divisions and functions. Areas covered include DUI investigation, crime scene investigation, felony car stops, traffic enforcement, tactics, SWAT, officer safety and more! If you have ever wondered why the police do what they do to keep you safe, apply to attend the 2017 academy! Applications and background checks are required.
