INVITATION TO BID

I. RECEIPT OF BIDS

Sealed Proposals will be received by the City of Lafayette, 1290 South Public Road, Lafayette, Colorado 80026 until 10:00 a.m. local prevailing time on September 11, 2012 for the construction of a certain public building and/or public works in accordance with the Plans, Contract Documents and Specifications prepared by the City of Lafayette.

II. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Please see the Construction Drawings for a map of each location of work. It is the intent of this list to give the general location and extent of the work to be performed under this contract. The final designation of locations and extent will be verified after the contract has been awarded. The City of Lafayette reserves the right to alter the total quantity (both increase and decrease) from that shown in the Contract Documents. Such quantity alteration will not change the unit price of the accepted Contract.

The Work includes (with approximate quantities), but is not necessarily limited to furnishing labor, materials and equipment for the construction of the following:

1. Curb & Gutter (Remove & Replace), 355 linear feet
2. Attached Walk (Remove & Replace), 390 square feet
3. Detached Walk (Remove & Replace), 230 square feet
4. 8” Thick Cross Pan (Remove & Replace), 645 square feet
5. Side Pan (Remove & Replace), 255 square feet
6. Drive Cut (Remove & Replace), 160 square feet
7. Curb Ramp (Remove and Replace), 3 each
8. Pigmented Curb Ramp (Davis Brick Red # 160), 2 each
9. Pigmented Concrete in Median (Davis Brick Red #160), 4.6 cubic Yards


All areas as described in the Location of Work are to be marked by City of Lafayette. This includes but is not limited to concrete work, sub-grade prep, and saw cutting. Extent of ‘Extra’ work to be determined by Engineer after contract award and during progress of concrete work.

The contract will be available for download or email in PDF format. YOU SHALL PAY A $10.00 NON-REFUNDABLE FEE THE CITY OF LAFAYETTE FINANCE DEPARTMENT IN ORDER TO BE INCLUDED ON THE BIDDERS LIST. The City will not accept bids from any person or company not listed on the bidders list. If you do not have email a set will be printed for you at cost of a local copy store

IV. BONDS

Each bid shall be accompanied by either a bid guarantee bond, certified check, or cashier's check payable to the order of the City of Lafayette in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid as a guarantee that the bidder will execute the Contract, if awarded, in conformity with the bid form.

The bidder to whom a Contract is awarded shall be required to furnish both a Performance Bond and Payment Bond acceptable to the City of Lafayette for 100% of the Contract Price for each bond, in accordance with the requirements of the Contract Documents.

V. CONTRACT AWARD

The Contract will be awarded or bids rejected no earlier than September 18, 2012. The City of Lafayette may reject any and all bids. The City of Lafayette reserves the right to reject any and all Bids, waive any informality in bidding or to accept the Bid or Bids, that best serve the interest of the City.

VI. SCHEDULE

Time for completion of the Work as proposed by the Contractor will be as required in the Contract Documents. While not a commitment, the current schedule calls for award of the Contract on or about September 18, 2012. The Contract Time shall commence to run on the date specified in the Notice to Proceed. The Contract Time will be 30 calendar days.

VII. PRE-BID CONFERENCE

A pre-bid conference will be held at the City of Lafayette on September 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Bidders are invited to attend and voice questions regarding the Contract Documents.
