“Women’s Art, A Persistent Path to Identity” opens at The Collective Community Art Center on February 13. The exhibit, curated by a team of local female artists, is an eclectic mix of work in a variety of mediums from local artists, representing expressions of identity as women and artists. The opening reception will be Friday, February 16; 6 – 8 pm. Light appetizers will be provided and wine will be available for purchase from Augustina’s winery.
An Artists’ Salon (Moderated Discussion) will be Sunday, February 25, 3 - 4:30 pm. The artists of the Women’s Art Show are invited to speak informally and briefly about their art making and how it affects who they are and how they view themselves.
The mission of this exhibit and the corresponding events is to promote local and emerging women artists, encouraging them to share their original work with the community. In doing so we celebrate with them, the persistence of art making as it contributes to the artist’s identity.
The Collective Gallery is open Tuesdays - Thursdays 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; Fridays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; Sundays 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. The Collective Gallery is closed on Mondays. For more information visit www.cityoflafayette.com/collective.
