Oil and gas development information and resources

On November 22, the Lafayette City Council received a letter from the Colorado Oil and Gas Association (COGA) expressing their concern regarding the City’s six-month moratorium on oil and gas activities.  Read this letter.

The Lafayette City Council is committed to exercising their limited municipal regulatory authority to minimize oil and gas impacts on the community. Oil and gas development is an activity regulated at the state level. Existing state law - solidified by Colorado Supreme Court decisions - prohibits bans on new oil and gas operation permits.

The City's Oil and Gas Information and Resources webpage provides a number of resources for residents looking to gather information including;

* Oil and gas FAQs

* Lafayette well maps

* Public participation at the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGC)

* Timeline of activities the City of Lafayette has engaged in to address oil and gas issues

Also included on this page is a link to the Boulder County Oil and Gas Development webpage. This page will provide information and updates regarding the spacing and drilling request recently filed by 8 North LLC with the state Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (“COGCC”).
