Structure fire on February 15

On February 15, 2017 at approximately 1610 hours the Lafayette Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to 1095 Modred Street, Lafayette, Colorado on a report of structure fire and possible explosion.  Upon emergency crew's arrival, the house was on fire and there were injured parties.

Two adult males were transported to the hospital from the scene with severe burns.  An adult female was also present at the residence when the fire/explosion occurred, but was uninjured.  A dog was also rescued from the home.

While emergency personnel were on scene they observed a large marijuana cultivation inside of the house.  Lafayette Police Department began drafting a search warrant for the residence to investigate the scene and possible cause of fire/explosion.

On February 16, 2017 the search warrant was executed by the Lafayette Police Department detective division with the assistance of the Multi Agency Fire Investigation Team (MAFIT).

The cause of the fire/explosion is still under investigation, however the case is being investigated as a possible hash oil extraction lab.  As further details are gathered we will release them through a press release.
