  1. Hidden Stories of Waneka Lake - Self Guided Tour

    September 27, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM @ Waneka Lake Park

    Waneka Lake and nearby Open Spaces have an amazing story to tell, and Lafayette Parks & Open Space has prepared a wonderful tool for discovering that story! A self-guided booklet will be unveiled and introduced at this free public program on September 27th. Discover stories of pioneers and power plants; wildlife and waterways; farming and families . . . and much more. This public program will feature a display with show-and-tell items highlighting the area’s history provided by the Lafayette Historical Society. Lafayette Parks & Open Space representatives will be on hand to describe the self-guided tour booklet and answer any questions. This event is followed up in the afternoon by the "Celebrating Bird Migration" event which begins at 1:00 PM. For more information contact Martin Ogle at martin@entrepreneurialearth.com

  2. Celebrating Bird Migration

    September 27, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Waneka Lake Park

    Explore the wonderful world of birds in a beautiful place! See a live hawk up close and view birds in the wild through spotting scopes and binoculars. Learn about migration, marshes and the role our avian friends play in our lives through art and a scavenger hunt. These and other activities will be featured at “Celebrating Bird Migration” at Waneka Lake Park and Greenlee Open Space. In addition to Lafayette Open Space, the following groups will be on hand to entertain and educate: Wild Wings, Boulder Audubon Society, Environment for the Americas, Thorne Nature Experience, Project YES, and the Boulder County Audubon Society. The Parent Engagement Network is also a co-sponsor. This free, public event is suitable for all ages and will also feature an array of fine prizes.
