Drug Take Back & Document Shred Event
Saturday, April 29, 2017
The Lafayette Police Department participates in the national prescription drug take back events each year, which focuses on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our medicine cabinets. A national take back day provides the public an opportunity to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. Items which cannot be accepted for take back programs are needles, mercury thermometers, oxygen containers, chemotherapy or radioactive substances, pressurized canisters and illicit drugs.
The shred event provides the public an opportunity to safely get rid of old documents and possibly avoid identity theft. Please limit your items to no more than 3 bags or boxes. Items which cannot be accepted are newspapers, phone books, junk mail, magazines or catalogues.
