Our History

The downtown business corridor is located in Old Town Lafayette and runs primarily along Public Road and Simpson Street. For information about the city’s founder, Mary Miller, and our rich coal mining and agricultural history, read about Historic Lafayette.

  • 103 N. Public Road — Behind the businesses at the northwest corner of Simpson and Public (Temporarily closed for construction)
  • 101 S. Public Road — Behind Anspach’s Jewelry (Simpson/Public)
  • 103 S. Iowa — Senior Services Center. M-F, parking after 5pm. Sat. 7am-11pm. Sun. Noon-11pm

Vision Plan

In 2011, a Downtown Vision Plan was adopted by the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority to set forth policies for the future of downtown and to outline a strategy to continue the area’s revitalization.
