What does this mean?

  • Lafayette Library cardholders now have access to material in the catalogs of other member libraries: Boulder, Broomfield, Longmont and Louisville!
  • When you search our catalog you will see the materials owned by Lafayette as well as those in the other member collections.

How do I get items from other libraries?

  • You can place holds on up to 10 items at a time from within our new catalog and the items will be sent to us via courier when they are available.
  • Likewise, customers from other member libraries will be able to request items from the Lafayette collection.

How long will it take for items to arrive?

  • It will be difficult to predict, at least in the first few months. The courier system will be adjusting to the added volume of materials being sent to and from the Lafayette Library. We expect that it will be around 3-4 days— much less than the 7-14+ days of our previous interlibrary loan system.

What happens when customers from other libraries request Lafayette’s items?

  • Lafayette cardholders will have priority access to Lafayette items. This means that Lafayette items will always fill the requests of Lafayette customers first. Lafayette items will then help fill the requests of customers from other libraries. The hold queue will be longer because it will include requests placed by customers in all member libraries—but there will be more copies of items available and the lists will move faster.
  • This system will make it somewhat difficult to calculate when a request will be filled.

When my request arrives how long will I have to pick it up?

  • 7 days from the time of notification.

Where can I return items?

  • You can return items at any member library: Boulder, Broomfield, Longmont, Louisville or Lafayette.

Can I use my Lafayette library card at other libraries?

  • At this time you can use your Lafayette card at the Boulder and Broomfield libraries. You can get cards at Louisville and Longmont by showing your Lafayette card and a form of identification.
