The United States is deeply rooted in immigration history. In fact, almost the entire population, beyond those who are Native American or were brought here during the slave trade, have an immigrant past. Yet many citizens don’t know much about our history, which is really their history. Boulder County is in the midst of active engagement in this uniquely American conversation through the One Action 2016: Arts + Immigration project.
The arts can provide powerful vehicles for telling stories of human experience. The One Action 2016 project is bringing together over 35 cultural arts, immigrant and educational organizations to catalyze conversations, understanding and foster a more inclusive community.
This month you can catch the Crossing Borders exhibition at the Lafayette Public Library.
Check out the myriad of diverse events at and sign up for our monthly newsletter.
Special thanks goes out to the Lafayette Cultural Resources and the City of Lafayette for their strong support of this project!

Material: Bronze
Price: $ 16,000
Artist Statement:
This sculpture was inspired by my happy memories of days spent at my parents’ winter home on St. Pete Beach, FL. My father would seine for bait fish every morning, then set the bucket of fish on the dock. Great entertainment was provided by watching the various herons, egrets, and pelicans take turns feeding from the bucket and interacting with one another.
